On the first Monday of Shrawan,  lakhs of Shiv devotees visited the Pashupati temple in Kathmandu Valley. Devotees bathe in holy rivers, fast for a day, and women wear beautiful green clothes to mark the arrival of monsoon. Hundreds of Shiv devotees fill water in Kalash from rivers, carry kalash on their heads and walk

to Pashupati temple to offer the water on Shivling.

As the Shrawan Sankranti begins as per the Bikram Sambat Nepali calendar, the month is punctuated with several festivals and celebrations of Chaturmas among the Hindu community in Nepal.
