Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri has returned to his home country last night, on the eve of its independence day after a nearly three-week absence following his surprise resignation. He had announced to step down from his post in a televised address on 4th of this month from Saudi Arabia.
He stayed in Riyadh for two weeks before making brief trips to Abu Dhabi, Paris and Cairo. Mr Hariri had promised he would return to Lebanon in time to mark its
47th Independence Day today.He is expected to take part in the Independence Day military parade today and the customary reception at the Presidential palace.
It is worth recalling that President Michel Aoun has not accepted the resignation of Mr Hariri.
During Mr Hariri's stay in Riyadh, the President had accused Saudi authorities of holding him hostage and demanded that he enjoy freedom of movement.
