A man found bleeding in the road Tuesday on Julian Street near Omaha Street was shot at least once and struck by a car, police said Tuesday.
Police were called to the area about 12:15 p.m. to investigate a report of a report that a person was shot in the face, said Capt. Sean Gladieux. Police said the man was transported to Moses Cone Hospital, and that his injuries are considered to be life threatening.
Capt. Nathaniel Davis said police are still trying to identify the victim. It's unknown if he lived in the neighborhood. He was found near 615 Julian St.
Witnesses told police the man was also hit by a car.
Two men were taken into custody on Julian Street about 1 p.m. Both denied any connection to the shooting as they were led to patrol cars.
Davis did not immediately have information on their possible connection to the crime, their names or their charges.
Andria Bass, 31, who lives around the corner on Omaha Street, says she heard multiple gunshots.
"I was lying down in my living room and heard the shots," she

said.
Bass said she heard five shots, which she said were not fired quickly. She said she also heard a car drive off several minutes later.
"It seemed a long time because I wondered if I should duck," Bass said. "I could tell it was not a car backfiring."
Bass said the area has had a rash of shootings during the summer, but nothing recently until today.
The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000 or text the tip to 274637 using the keyword badboyz. All calls to Crime stoppers are anonymous and may result in a reward of up to $2,000.
