Islamabad,Pakistan's anticorruption watchdog National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Pakistan's Muslim League-Nawaz vice president Maryam Nawaz on Thursday in a corruption investigation case.
The daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was supposed to appear before the NAB for questioning in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case in which she and some other members of the Sharif family have been accused of laundering
money and illegally transferring shares for personal gain through the company.
Maryam had informed NAB that she would not be able to appear for the meeting as she was planning to visit her father in a Lahore jail.where he is being held after being convicted of corruption.
Maryam was arrested before she could meet her father at the Kot Lakhpal jail and was taken to the NAB office in Lahore.
