In Pakistan, the convicted son-in-law of the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has been arrested after he resurfaced in the garrison city of Rawalpindi leading a rally of supporters. 

Mohammad Safdar appeared with hundreds of supporters, marching down the city’s streets on Sunday for hours with the crowd growing.The former ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League, capitalized on Safdar’s rally to mobilize supporters ahead of the July 25



polls.

A Police Officer said, anti-graft authorities took Safdar into custody.
Safdar went into hiding after an anti-graft court convicted him last Friday, along with former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, over purchases of luxury apartments in London.

Sharif was given a ten-year jail term and Maryam seven years, but Safdar was given one year for abetment.
