Left-leaning former human rights lawyer Moon Jae-In began his five-year term as president of South Korea this morning after winning a landslide victory in polls a day before.
The National Election Commission
said Moon, of the Democratic Party, took 41.1 per cent of the votes, far ahead of Conservative Hong Joon-Pyo, his closest rival on 24.03 per cent.His inauguration ceremony is due to take place at the National Assembly at midday.
