In Bangladesh, about 250 people have fallen ill following leakage of toxic gas in a fertilizer plant in Chittagong. Diammonium phosphate gas started leaking from one of the gas tanks of the factory located in Rangadiya on the shore of Karnaphuli river in Chittagong late last night.
The ill have been rushed to the Chittagong Medical
College Hospital where some are critical with respiratory complications. Fire Services have been fighting to plug the leak through the night. Fire Services Headquarters Assistant Director Jamin Uddin told that 8 to 10 fire fighting units are at the site. Authorities have evacuated some people in the immediate proximity of the factory.
