The military government of Myanmar has slapped one more case of corruption against the former state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. This is the 11th corruption charge against the ousted civilian leader of Myanmar. The latest case charges Aung San Suu Kyi with illegally receiving USD 5.5 lakh for a charity foundation in the name of her mother, said the military government in a statement.
She has been under house arrest since Feb 1 last year when the military took power in Myanmar. Apart from corruption charges, she is also
facing charges of violating the pandemic laws, official secrets act, election fraud and illegal import of communication equipment during her tenure as State Counsellor.
Meanwhile, the trial court in Myanmar postponed hearing in the trial of Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday because of her ill health, reports Reuters. Radio Free Asia reported that she was allowed to miss the hearing scheduled for Thursday at the request of her personal doctor as she was suffering from dizziness and nausea.
