The presidential election in Nepal is scheduled today, March 9. The voting will take place from 10 AM to 3 PM. There are 875 voters on the voter list including 325 federal lawmakers and 550 members of provincial assemblies.
The election commission has set up two polling stations at the Lhotse hall of the Parliament, one for the federal lawmakers and another for members of provincial assemblies. The election commission has deployed 14 personnel at the polling station, 7 employees at each polling station.
Ramachandra Paudel of the Nepali congress and Subhas Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML are the two candidates vying for the presidency today.
Although the post of president in Nepal is a figurehead post, but as President Bidhya Devi Bhandari blocked the citizenship Bill and is sitting on an ordinance brought by the Sher Bahadur Deuba government to facilitate the withdrawal of cases against political prisoners, now President post has become crucial for all political parties too.
