US President Barack Obama has said after meeting relatives of Orlando attack victims that discrimination against LGBT people must be tackled at home and abroad. A gunman killed 49 people on Sunday morning at a gay nightclub in the city. Mr Obama challenged the Republican-controlled Congress to pass gun control legislation.
But Republican Senator John McCain said the President was directly
responsible because he had failed to tackle the Islamic State group. Gunman Omar Mateen claimed allegiance to the militant group as he carried out the massacre. He later clarified that he did not mean the president was personally responsible. On yesterday, hundreds of people gathered outside the Amway Center in Orlando as the resident and Vice-President Joe Biden consoled relatives inside.
