In Bangladesh, a man was killed and 10 people were injured as a train derailed on Dhaka-Mymensingh rail line in Gazipur in the wee hours of Wednesday. Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Director said seven coaches of the Dhaka-bound Mohanganj Express, including the locomotive, veered off the tracks at Bankhuria around 4:00 am.

According to the Railway officials claim, the incident occurred as miscreants severed a section of the railway track between Rajendrapur and Bhawal railway stations on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway route in Gazipur district. The saboteurs cut

the tracks with gas cutters some time in the night, official said. The fire service recovered a 12-kg gas cylinder from the forest beside the railway tracks, he said.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and are conducting a rescue operation. Train communication between Joydebpur and Mymensingh remained suspended following the derailment.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party and like-minded parties are observing a 36-hour rail, road, and waterway blockade across Bangladesh.
