The Dubai Civil Defence put out a fire which erupted in a residential building in Bur Dubai area, on Thursday afternoon.
The operations room of the Civil Defence received a call about the fire around 3:21 pm, in a three-storeyed building in the consulate area, and close to the British Embassy. Fire brigades from the Karama Civil Defence Station rushed to the site and immediately evicted the residents and started fighting the blaze to prevent the spread of fire from the first floor flat where it started.
After all the tenants were evicted, the
firefighters put out the blaze by 3:56 pm. Dubai Police officials and ambulance paramedics at the site also provided first aid and rushed some of the residents to Rashid Hospital.
A Dubai Civil spokesperson said one flat was completely gutted in the fire. A cooling operation was also done to prevent the fire from reigniting. The Dubai Police forensic experts cordoned off the flat to investigate the cause of fire.
A number of residents, including women and children who were evicted were seen waiting in the vicinity to retrieve their belongings.
