A 65-year-old Bahraini woman killed and five others injured in an accident on Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway yesterday.
According to reports, a Saudi-bound truck, driven by an Asian, lost control and rammed into other vehicles when it was on the busy Al Janabia bridge.
Overspeeding and lack of attention are said to be reason for the accident.
The reports said that the truck rammed into an SUV in which three Bahrainis including the deceased were travelling. The woman who died was sitting at the back of the
SUV.
The truck also hit a pick-up van that carried a group of Asian passengers, injuring five of them.
The Bahraini woman reportedly died on the spot.
The injured were, however, transferred to Salamiya Medical Complex.
The rescue teams arrived at the spot immediately after the accident carried out rescue operations. The vehicles including the truck were also removed from the spot with the help of cranes.
The General Directorate of Traffic has started investigations to confirm the cause of the accident, the reports said.
