Over one thousand Indian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were awarded United Nations medals for their exceptional service. 

In a tweet, UNMISS said, 1,171 Indians have



received UN medals for their vital work in Upper Nile, South Sudan. It said, the Indian contingent will be known for its efforts to build and repair critical infrastructure, but also for protecting civilians.
