Islamabad: The Pakistan Government on Tuesday announced a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 19 on Tuesday, according to the Dawn newspaper. Dawn is a Pakistani English-language newspaper that was launched in British India in 1941. It is the largest English newspaper in Pakistan and also serves as the country’s newspaper of record.

The Pakistan Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, informed about the development that led to the

prices of petrol and diesel at Rs 272.95 and Rs 273.40 per litre, respectively.

The statements of Ishaq Dar reported by the Dawn newspaper said that the government had checked the working of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) until the late hours of the night.

The delay in the announcement, the basic reason, was that we were looking at if there were ways to reduce it if there was some leeway, Dar said.
