Panic and confusion prevailed at several places in Pakistan over the evacuation ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall which is likely to hit on Thursday. People were left to fend for themselves at several places.
According to reports, the Defence Housing Authority in Karachi asked residents of high-alert areas to evacuate their homes. There was also confusion about whether the evacuation was optional or mandatory. The Authority asked residents to either shift to relief camps or with their
relatives living in safer areas. Ahead of the cyclone's arrival, strong winds, showers and high tides were witnessed in the coastal region.
The cyclone is likely to make landfall between Keti Bandar in the Thatta district of Pakistan and the Gujarat coastline. In Pakistan, it's likely to affect areas including Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparkar, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Hyderabad, Ormara, Tando Allahyar and Tando Mohammad Khan.
