Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met US Vice President JD Vance on the sidelines of the AI Summit in Paris. This meeting comes a day ahead of PM Modi's two-day visit to the US.

In a bid to thwart a potential trade war, India is planning tariff cuts ahead of PM Modi's meeting with President Donald Trump -- a move that could boost US exports to India,

reported news agency Reuters. Once labelled as a "very big abuser" by Trump when it came to import tariffs, India will be looking to shed the tag and open its economy to US imports -- a message PM Modi wants Vance to carry to Trump before his visit to the US.

This was PM Modi's first interaction with a member of the newly-elected Donald Trump administration in India.
