In Nepal, polling is underway for the second and final phase of Parliamentary and provincial elections. As many as 128 constituencies of House of Representatives and 256 of Provincial Assemblies in 45 districts are going to polls in this phase.
Over 4480 candidates trying their luck in this final phase. Over 15340 polling centres have been set put for more than one crore 22 lakh voters. The voting will continue till 5 in the evening.Elaborate security arrangements have been made for free, fair and peaceful elections.
Nepal-India border has been sealed and security personnel from both the countries jointly
patrolling in the border areas. President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have appealed the people of Nepal to enthusiastically participate in the elections. The historic elections are being seen as Nepal's final step to democratic federalism and expected to bring much needed political stability in this Himalayan Nation.
First round of election was successfully completed on November 26 in 32 districts. As per the new constitution of Nepal it is mandatory to complete local, province and parliament elections by January 21 next year. Local elections have already been completed.
