A more subdued and humble Donald Trump addressed supporters early Wednesday as the United States’ president-elect.
Trump told the crowd that Hillary Clinton had called him to concede and congratulate “us on our victory.” He said he also congratulated her and her family on a hard fought campaign. He said she was owed “a major debt of gratitude for her service to this country.”
Addressing the deep polarization
exposed in this election, Trump said it was now time to “bind the wounds of division … it’s time for us to come together as one united people.”
“I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans and this is so important to me,” he said. “For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, I am reaching out to you so we can unify our great country.”
