UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned that restrictions in England are probably about to get tougher to curb rising Covid infections.
He said, stronger measures may be required in parts of the country in the coming weeks. He said the situation will be better by the spring, as more people are vaccinated in the next three months.
Mr Johnson
defended plans for primary schools to reopen in most of England today. He said that schools are safe and urged parents to send their children back into the classroom in areas of England where they can.
UK has recorded more than 50,000 new confirmed Covid cases for the sixth day in a row, with 54,990 announced yesterday.
