Russian forces launched massive shelling yesterday on Sloviansk in eastern Ukraine. Local media reports that the city’s Mayor Vadim Lyakh said, Moscow’s forces initiated attacks in Donetsk province after taking control of neighboring Luhansk province. The Mayor also urged residents to flee from the city or to take cover in shelters.
According to media reports, after Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Monday that his
country’s forces had taken control of Luhansk province, Sloviansk, and Bakhmut, an important supply point for Ukrainian forces.
On other hand, the Ukrainian military said that Russian forces also bombed several Donetsk towns and villages near Sloviansk. The statement also said that south of the city, Russian forces were trying to push toward two more towns and shelling areas near Kramatorsk.
