A Russian defence force Tu-154 aircraft carrying around 100 people has disappeared from radar, according to reports.
Citing the Russian defence ministry, news agencies said on Sunday that the plane bound for Syria went missing soon after taking off from the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
“Tu-154 [aircraft] of the Defense Ministry departed from Sochi and disappeared from radars after some time. A search is organised,” said a defence source quoted by the Tass news agency.

Approximately 100 people were on board of the aircraft, the source said. “The exact number to be determined,” the source added, although Associated Press said there were 91 people on the aircraft.
It was believed the plane was carrying musicians from the Alexandrov Ensemble and journalists although Tass had no official confirmation of this information.
The plane was en route to Latakia in Syria, Tass said.
“The aircraft departed to Latakia and then disappeared from radars. According to preliminary data, about 100 people were on board,” the source said.
