Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed his government to examine the feasibility of creating a national supercomputer centre, which would be accessible to researchers across the country. The Kremlin announced today that the decision was made in light of previous directives and with the aim of providing Russian researchers access to advanced computing power. It also emphasised the importance of
training personnel to operate and support the proposed supercomputer centre.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been assigned to oversee the order’s execution. The president’s order comes following his participation in a plenary meeting of the Future Technologies Forum and a meeting with scientists on February 21.
