The Russian troops are gaining ground in Southern Ukraine that threatens to cut off Ukraine's access to the Black Sea. As more shellings were reported graving the humanitarian crisis, Ukrainian President Zelensky has asked Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for one-to-one talks. Zelensky said that this is the only way to end the war.
He also urged the Western countries to give him planes to fight Russia. Zelensky also called upon NATO to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba alleged that Russian troops have surrounded the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and shelling has been reported in the area.
The Zaporizhzhia plant is the largest
nuclear plant in Europe. A fire broke out in a training building outside the nuclear power plant.
A spokesperson for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant said that background levels of radiation has not changed. Ukrainian authorities said there is no damage to power plant and it is safe.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a tweet that it is in contact with Ukrainian authorities over the situation at the plant.
On the other hand, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on two more Russian oligarchs. The United States has also allowed Ukrainian refugees to stay in the country temporarily as part of humanitarian relief.
