Saudi Arabia's air defences intercepted two ballistic missiles on Wednesday, state television saidColonel Turki Al Malki, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, said that at exactly 7:18am on Wednesday, the Saudi Royal Air Force intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Houthi militia from the Saada governorate towards Saudi Arabia.
Al Malki added that the Houthi militants backed by Iran continue to violate the UN resolution 2216
and 2231, which threatens the security of Saudi Arabia.
The missiles were aimed at the city of Jazan, targeting civilians in the populated area, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen have - in recent months - intensified missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition against them. Riyadh has long accused Tehran of supplying the Houthis with ballistic missiles.
