US Senate has approved by a large majority an amendment critical of President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw troops from Syria and Afghanistan.
The resolution was sponsored by the Republican leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell. It passed by a majority of 70 to 26 - opposed by only three of the 53 Senate Republicans. The amendment will eventually be incorporated
into a broader security law on the West Asia.
In December, Mr.Trump tweeted plans to remove America's two thousand troops out of Syria. He has also vowed to pull half of the 14 thousand American force from Afghanistan, where the US has had a military presence since 2001, citing the high cost in blood and treasure.
