The Shawwal moon crescent was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Friday, hence Eid Al Fitr will be on Sunday, May 24, according to authorities.
The crescent - as predicted - is likely to be spotted on May 23 (Saturday).
Saudi Arabia has announced that Saturday, May 23, 2020 will be the last day of Ramadan and that Sunday May 24th will be the first day of Eid, Shawwal 1st 1441, according to Okaz
newspaper.
This year's Eid Al Fitr prayer will be performed at home to ensure safety, as mosques across the country will remain closed due to the precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. The authorities urged public to avoid social gatherings and follow social distancing guidelines.
Saudi Arabia has imposed a curfew in the Kingdom during Eid break to prevent coronavirus spread.
