Sri Lanka releases eight Tamil fishermen

Sri Lanka has released eight Tamil fishermen who were arrested for allegedly crossing the international maritime boundary line. Fishermen sources in Nagapattinam said that Lankan court in Mullatheevu has issued orders to release the fishermen. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa wrote a letter to Prime



Minister Narendra Modi yesterday to ensure immediate release of Tamil fishermen lodged in Sri Lankan jails. 
The local Tamil fishermen expect that other fishermen will also be released well before Pongal Tamil festival. More than 100 Tamil fishermen are still lodged in Lankan jail.
