In Sri Lanka, swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet of the government will be held today at the Presidential Secretariat, in the presence of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

After a resounding victory in the recent Parliamentary election, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will appoint a 23-member Cabinet, retaining the key portfolios of defence and finance under his leadership.

As per Sri Lanka’s Constitution, the maximum permitted number of Cabinet ministers is limited to 30. According to



reports, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya is set to be reappointed as Prime Minister, while Vijitha Herath will continue in his role as Foreign Minister.

The 10th Parliament is set to convene for its first session on 21st of November with many first timer parliamentarians from NPP joining the house.

The ruling National People’s Power alliance won a landslide at the Parliamentary Election winning 159 out of 225 seats increasing their tally from three seats.
