At least 37 people have been killed and several others injured during an army recruitment drive in a stadium in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo on Tuesday.
The horrific incident took place in a stampede overnight during recruitment. Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso called it unfortunate and a crisis
unit has been set up under his authority.
According to reports, the army in Congo-Brazzaville last week announced it was recruiting 1,500 people between 18 to 25. Local residents said many people were still in the stadium on Monday night when the stampede began.
