Chinese military has commenced a new round of drills near Taiwan which has been strongly condemned by Taiwan Ministry. The development came just days after the self-ruled democratic island celebrated its National Day. The Chinese Defense Ministry said that the “Joint Sword-2024B” drills were taking place in the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, south, and east of Taiwan.
According to the ministry, Chinese ships and aircraft are approaching Taiwan from various directions, conducting sea-air combat patrols, blockading key
areas, and targeting maritime and ground positions to achieve joint superiority.
On the other hand, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense strongly condemned China’s actions. It said that appropriate forces had been dispatched to protect freedom and democracy and defend Taiwan’s sovereignty. The Taiwan ministry reported that 25 PLA aircraft and 11 ships, including seven from the navy, were operating around Taiwan. In recent years, China has increased its military activity around island.
