Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has said that the country does not seek military confrontation, but will do whatever it takes to defend itself. According to a private news agency, Mr Ing-wen made the statement yesterday, amid high tensions in the country over the latest hostile policies initiated by Beijing and the Xi Jinping-led regime in recent years.

Minister expressed concerns that China could launch full scale invasion as early as 2025.

China claims the democratic island of Taiwan as its own territory and says it should be taken by force if necessary. Taiwan resists, saying it is an independent country and will defend its freedoms and democracy in the face of China's aggression.
