Multiple political candidates were in attendance, including J.B. Pritzker, the Democratic candidate for Governor of Illinois who told the gathered crowd "that we need equal pay for equal work, and that we need a governor who's going to stand up for your reproductive
rights."
The event was organized as a continuation of the Women's March movement, which has seen repeated protests internationally and across the United States with the aim of demonstrating opposition to the allegedly anti-women policies and positions of both the Republican party and US President Donald Trump.
