This isn’t the aftermath of an earthquake – the devastating scene was actually caused by an exploding toilet.
The accident in Yulin, north-east China, on New Year’s Eve was the result of a build-up of a toxic hydrogen sulphide, ammonia and methane.
This was caused by human waste that had collected at the loo block, according to People’s Daily Online.
The explosion left one person dead and seven

other people injured.

A mobile phone video showed the catastrophic aftermath that looked like something from a disaster movie.
Five of the victims are still in hospital being treated for their wounds but they were all expected to survive.
A lot of the public toilets in China are still rudimentary but officials have been investing heavily in order to improve them.
