Tourists prohibited from hiking as Indonesia's Bali volcano erupts

Indonesian authorities have prohibited tourists from hiking in the radius of 4 kilometres from the crater of Mount Agung volcano, which erupted yesterday. A disaster agency official said, residents in the slope of the mountain have been ordered to exercise caution over the flow of lava during heavy downpours.

The eruption of Mount Agung triggered rain of volcanic ash covering



eight villages and town in Karang Asem district. However, no evacuation orders have been issued. Mount Agung is situated about 70 kilometres from the Bali tourist hub of Kuta.

The fresh eruption comes just days after Anak Krakatoa volcano triggered a tsunami that hit Java and Sumatra, killing 430 people and leaving more than 7,000 injured.
