Trump administration in its new counter terrorism strategy identified Pakistan-based terrorist outfits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a potential threat to the United States.
The National Strategy for Counter-terrorism released by the White House yesterday said that in addition to the ISIS and al-Qaeda, dozens of other radical
Islamist terrorist groups including Boko Haram, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba are working to advance more locally focused terrorist campaigns, while still posing a threat to the US persons and interests overseas.
The LeT was declared as a foreign terrorist organisation by the US in June 2014.
