United States President Donald Trump has threatened to devastate Turkey economically if it attacks Kurdish forces in Syria following a planned pullout of American troops.
Pushing for the creation of a 30-kilometre safe zone, Mr. Trump yesterday tweeted that he didn't want the Kurds to provoke Turkey either. He did not detail who would create, enforce or pay for the safe zone, or where it would
be located.
The US President called the Syria pullout long overdue but said the US would still hit the little remaining Isis territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions. Will attack again from existing nearby base if it reforms, he added. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is currently on the Middle East regional tour to reassure US allies in the region.
