Trump, Trudeau meet at White House amid new NAFTA talks

US President Donald Trump remained non-committal about the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement as he welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the White House amid simmering disputes over trade between the two North American neighbours. 

Mr Trudeau joined Mr Trump in the Oval Office at the start of a new round of talks over the North American Free Trade Agreement, which the US President has threatened to withdraw from, if he can't negotiate a better agreement with



Canada and Mexico. 

Speaking to newspersons in the Oval Office, Mr Trump said it is possible that US and Canada would not be able to make a deal and it is also possible that they will make a deal. Mr Trudeau, in his brief remarks to reporters spoke of the ties that bind the two neighbours and major trading partners. It was second visit of Mr Trudeau to the White House this year. He is also scheduled to visit Mexico today to hold additional discussions on the NAFTA.
