Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blamed the Saudi government for its direct involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.
Mr Erdogan said that the order of killing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi came from the highest level of the Saudi government. He said the international community has the responsibility to reveal the puppet masters behind the slaying.
In an opinion page article in The
Washington Post, he wrote Turkey's close ties to Saudi Arabia does not mean that Turkey could turn a blind eye to the killing of the journalist.
Istanbul's chief prosecutor announced on Wednesday that Khashoggi, who lived in exile in the United States, was strangled immediately after he entered the consulate as part of a premeditated killing and his body was dismembered before being removed.
