The UK government has announced new sanctions against Russia over its referendums in southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that referendums cannot be free or fair and the UK will never recognize their results. He said the new sanctions will target those behind what he called these sham votes, as well as the individuals that according to him, continue to prop up the Russian regime's
aggression.
According to media reports, residents of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions were voting for a fourth day yesterday. The votes were announced after Ukrainian forces recaptured much of the northeastern Kharkiv region in a counter-offensive. Britain has sanctioned over 1,200 Russian individuals and 120 entities since the Conflict started between Russia and Ukraine on 24th February.
