Ukrainian troops are holding their ground in eastern town of Avdiivka, says Ukrainian President

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy yesterday said that Ukrainian troops were holding their ground in the eastern town of Avdiivka, where fighting with Russian forces has intensified this week.

The Ukrainian officials said that Russian forces have redirected large numbers of troops and



equipment to Avdiivka after months of besieging it. This makes it their largest attack on the town since the beginning of the conflict.

Avdiivka is home to the largest coke-producing plant in the southwest of the Donetsk region.
