The spokesperson for the United Nations secretary general, Stephane Dujarric, has said that UN stands against any violation of the territorial integrity of Syria. The statement was made after Israel Defense Forces (IDF) seized a buffer zone in the Golan Heights following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad government.
Speaking to media, the spokesperson said that United Nations is very clear about the violation of the disengagement
agreement following the IDF occupation of the buffer zone. He said that under the present scenario, the region should not be used by its neighbours to encroach on the territory of Syria.
Meanwhile, Geir Pedersen, special envoy to the UN secretary general for Syria, has urged Israel to cease its military operations in Syria, emphasising the urgent need to halt all conflicts across the West Asia.
