United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the horrendous terrorist attack against the Shia Mosque in Kandahar province of Afghanistan. At least 47 people were killed and 70 others injured in an explosion inside the Shia mosque during Friday prayers yesterday.
Terror group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a statement, UN Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and they
wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.
Members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
UNSC Members also underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.
