China has warned the United States of taking counter-measures after the Biden administration approved more than 1.1 billion dollars in arms sales to Taiwan. A Chinese embassy spokesman in the US, Liu Pengyu called on Washington to immediately revoke the approval.
He said China will firmly oppose the sales, which severely jeopardize China-US relations and peace and stability across the
Taiwan Strait. Chinese Spokesman made these comments on Twitter after the Biden administration Friday notified Congress of the proposed sales.
The military equipment package to Taiwan includes Sidewinder missiles, which can be used for air-to-air and surface-attack missions, Harpoon anti-ship missiles and support for Taiwan's surveillance radar programme.
