In the U.S., a federal judge yesterday dismissed a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his alleged role in the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. According to media reports, Washington federal judge John Bates accepted the government's stance that Prince Mohammed, who was designated prime minister of Saudi Arabia in September, enjoys immunity in U.S. courts as
a foreign head of state.
The dismissal of the civil claim against Prince Mohammed means the Saudi heir can now travel to the U.S. and other jurisdictions freely.
Last year, President Joe Biden declassified an intelligence report that found Prince Mohammed had approved the operation against Khashoggi.
