The US government has demanded China to release human rights lawyer Wang Quanzhang who has been convicted and jailed for four-and-a-half years for subverting the state.
Department of State Deputy Spokesman Robert Palladino said in a statement yesterday that the US government
was deeply concerned about Wang's sentencing in Tianjin, China, on January 28.
Wang was among the first individuals detained during the Chinese government's July 9, 2015 crackdown on legal advocates for rule of law and human rights defenders.
