In the United States, Republican-led Senate approved bipartisan legislation to address the humanitarian crisis along the US-Mexico border with more than 4 billion dollar in supplemental funds and new requirements for the care of detained migrants, especially children.

The approval comes less than 24 hours after the House of Representative passed a measure that was similar but had more restrictions on how the Trump administration could use the money. That House bill was rejected in the

Senate.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said, the Democrats wanted open borders. On other hand a senior Democrat leader said, their bill was needed to counter the administration's policies.

The funding bill battle comes amid outrage over photos showing a drowned migrant father and daughter at the US-Mexico border, and days after reports emerged of detention facilities where migrant children were being held in horrific conditions.
