The US House has passed a measure aimed at withdrawing all US military support for the Saudi Arabia-backed war in Yemen.
The Democratic-led House yesterday advanced the bill, 248 to 177, as its first major vote on foreign policy.
The vote was a sharp rebuke to Saudi Arabia for its conduct in that conflict and a push-back against the Trump administration's close ties to the
kingdom.
Eighteen Republicans joined all voting Democrats in supporting the measure. The vote puts pressure on the Senate to act.
The Senate easily passed a similar measure late last year condemning the administration's defence of the Saudi kingdom, but it died as the last Congress ended with the then Republican-controlled House not bringing it to a vote.
