US President Donald Trump signs executive order authorising sanctions against foreign meddling in American elections

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order authorising sanctions against any countries or individuals found interfering in American elections. 

National Security Advisor John Bolton said, the sanctions not only cover the interference with election or campaign infrastructure, but also the



distribution of propaganda and disinformation. 

He said, the order describes a process whereby the Departments of State and Treasury will decide on appropriate sanctions to recommend and to impose on the countries or other actors that have engaged in this interference.
