An employee travelled 800km to deliver pizza to a cancer-stricken man in Michigan, US. Even as his "act of genuine kindness" is being highly appreciated by netizens, the man says he did it to make the family happy.

Around 25 years ago, Julie and Rich Morgan lived in Michigan and Steve's Pizza was their favourite. They relocated to Indianapolis, but the pizza from Steve's Pizza continued to be the "gold standard" for them, said Julie in a Facebook post that has gone viral.

The couple had planned to travel to Michigan to get the pizza - but a trip to the emergency room changed their plans, according to sources.

"I took Rich to the ER where he landed in ICU for five days, and where we learned the news that his valiant cancer battle was coming to an end," said Julie.

It was then that Julie's father contacted Steve's Pizza and requested them to send a cheer-up card for Rich. However, its manager Dalton was so moved that he

decided
to go an extra mile.

"Without hesitation Dalton asked what kind of pizza we wanted, and told my father he would bring it to us (by the way, Steve's doesn't deliver). My dad clarified that we were in Indianapolis, at least three and a half hours away from Battle Creek. Dalton said he understood that, and would leave after he closed the store," said Julie in her Facebook post.

While the couple was asleep at 2:30am, Dalton delivered two extra special pizzas for the waiting family.

Julie is "beyond overwhelmed and humbled by this act of genuine kindness". Dalton's gesture has won him a bevy of fans on social media.

Julie's post has garnered hundreds of comments and over 3,000 'shares'.

"I had to, I was super tired, but I made it and that's what counts. It was worth it. I'm glad I did that," Dalton was quoted as telling Battle Creek Enquirer. "I just wanted to do that for them. I just wanted to make them happy."
